 Becoming a Friend

The Friends of the Valentine Public Library group was founded to provide essential volunteer support to the library and offer a platform for community members to share ideas about how to improve library services. Beyond lending a hand, the Friends play a key role in fundraising for special projects that fall outside the library’s annual budget. They also promote awareness of library programs and events, helping to strengthen the library’s role in the community. Simply put, the Friends of the Valentine Public Library are exactly that—true FRIENDS of the library.

How the Friends Help

The Friends have been steadfast in their support, contributing both financially and with their time. In 2010, they played a pivotal role during the library’s renovation, offering financial aid and manpower when needed. Today, the Friends continue their vital work, funding several projects that enhance the library. Recent improvements include remodeling the kitchen in the meeting room, landscaping the new front entrance, and adding much-needed storage to the office area. Their latest venture is updating the counters at the circulation desk and card catalog.

The Friends also bring fun and creative programming to life. From the whimsical “Stuffed Animal Sleepover” and “Elephant &Piggie Party” for kids to the popular “Diva Night” for adults, they offer events that engage and excite the community, encouraging people to explore and enjoy the library.

The Valentine Public Library always needs Friends and support. Will you consider becoming a Friend of the Library? We would love to have you join us.
