📚🦁 What a ROARING good time we had at today's Pre-K storytime! Our little bookworms had a blast diving into the world of lions! 🦁 But the real highlight? Watching our creative kiddos transform paint and forks into magnificent lion manes. The laughter and learning moments were priceless. Although we missed grabbing most of the children before they left, we were able to capture a picture of a few with their masterpieces. Today's Throwback Thursday postcard shows the "sinking of steel coissons (sic) at the C&NW Bridge, Niobrara River, Valentine, Nebr". Postmarked July 1910 in Sparks, NE. SD Butcher & Sons, Kearney.According to the book Valentine Railroad Bridge by Jerry Penny, the former Chicago & North Western Railway bridge that crosses the Niobrara River southeast of Valentine, Neb., is the most visible man-made landmark in northern Nebraska. Completed in 1910 along what became known as the C&NW's "Cowboy Line," the 140-foot tall steel structure was the tallest railroad bridge ever constructed in Nebraska.
