How to use your Library Account?
1st Step…..start on the library webpage www.valentinelibrary.org
2nd Step-Select to card catalog
3rd Step-Login with current library card number. Please call the Valentine Public Library if you are unsure of your card number at 402-376-3160. Your password is the main phone number on your library card account.
4th Step-Select My Account
5th Step-This is what your screen will look like after logging in and selecting your account. You have options to update your phone number, email, how you receive notifications, see what items are currently out, renew books, check your history, reserve items or see if you have previously checked a title out.
6th Step-Checking on items currently checked out.
7th Step-How to renew items? You are able to renew any item currently checked out unless it is on reserve for another library patron or you have exceeded the max number of renewals. You will not be able to renew any items if your card is expired or if you have a fine.
8th Step-Check your history of items checked out. You are able to download this as an excel spreadsheet for your personal records.
9th Step-How to reserve a book? Type in Title or Subject on search bar at the upper left hand side of card catalog.
10th Step-How to reserve a book? After searching for title or subject. Select Title.
11th Step-How to reserve a book? After searching for your preferred title, select reserve this item button. This will also work if the title is currently checked in. Reserve your selection and if it is in, the Library staff will pull item from the shelf and have it ready for you to pick up. You will not be able to reserve any items if your card is expired or if you have a fine.
12th Step-How to see if you have previously checked an item out? On search bar type in Title or Subject on upper left hand side of card catalog.
13th Step-How to see if you have previously checked an item out? After searching for Title or Subject, Select title you prefer.
14th Step-How to see if you have previously checked an item out? After searching, select a title. If you had previously checked an item out, the last checkout date will be shown here.
